John W. SHIVER
(1828-1864)
John W. Shiver was born abt. 1828, probably in Dooly County, Georgia. He was the oldest son of Enoch SHIVER and Dedemiah LOVE (or NETTLES). He married Sarah D. SIMMONS, on 22 Sep 1853, but the county is unknown to us as none of the counties in the area have extant marriage records for this period (due to courthouse record destruction). The date is taken from Sarah's Civil War widow's pension.
The known children of this couple, all born in Mitchell County, Georgia, are:
- Loyd Hampton, b. 18 Nov 1858, d. 22 Sep 1903. (Married (1) Louisa GANTT and (2) Elizabeth "Lizzie" LUCKEY).
- William Jackson "Will", b. abt. 1859, d. early 1896. (Married Amanda GANTT).
- Mary Ellafore, b. 5 Mar 1862, d. 19 Aug 1954. (Married Doc Manning BAKER).
- Georgia Pearl, b. 31 May 1863, d. 4 Apr 1944. (Married Simon HART).
